Despite Rogers announcing speed increases for their internet packages, Canada is still decades away from ever experiencing what the UK already are. Virgin Media successfully tested in delivering memorizing speeds of up to 1.5Gbps down and 150Mbps up thanks to DOCSIS 3.0, IPv6, and down and upstream bonding. The trial run is using the same infrastructure that Virgin currently provides to almost 50% of UK residential homes with speeds of up to 100Mbps. Currently the speeds will be only available to a lucky select few that reside around Old Street, also known as the city’s “Silicon Roundabout”. This feat in broadband cable also marks the fastest residential cable internet service offered in the world.
