ASUS Reveals Transformer 2 (Prime) Tablet Specs And Android 4.0 On Their Upcoming PadFone
During All Things D’s AsiaD conference in Hong Kong ASUS made big announcements for their upcoming Android devices. This is following an teaser trailer that has just recently hit the web and now they go ahead and reveal the internals of the next iteration of their Transformer Tablet, as well as news on their PadFone device.
Jonney Shih, Chairman of ASUS has informed the public that their upcoming Transformer Prime (Awesome choice) will consist of a 10.1 inch display with a 1280×800 screen resolution and will run a 1.3 GHz Quad-core Tegra 3 or Kal-El with 1GB of RAM with the option of either 16/32GB of internal storage. To top it all off the device is said to be a mere 8.3mm in width (that’s thinner than a Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone). The device is currently in production and is set for an official reveal on November 9, so mark those calendars folks.
Onto another very interesting ASUS product, one that has my personal attention; the PadFone. These two devices include a (newly announced) Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone as well as a shell dock, if you will. The dock or tablet provides the ASUS smartphone with battery life as well as a larger display and outputs alike. The entire device runs on the phone, therefore all of you information will be readily available just on a larger screen. The device has been announced to incorporate the Android 4.0 OS which was just featured at the Samsung Galaxy Nexus conference yesterday. The device is set for shipping in Q1 of 2012 (that’s January-May). Now the smartphone itself was announced before and featured capacitive touch buttons, but with Ice Cream Sandwich the navigation buttons are found on-screen, and it seems odd that this device would feature two layers of navigation buttons and for that matter what of the other devices like the Galaxy S II. Is there something we’re missing here…?
Take a look at an ASUS promotional video with the PadFone as it is used in daily activities, paints quite picture.
