It should be no surprise at this point that 2012 will be the year of the Quad-Core smartphone, and HTC may already have begun developing not one, but two quad-core phones. More after the break.

The previous speculated device was codenamed HTC Edge and consisted of a 4.7″ 720p display and packed with Nvidia’s Quad-Core Tegra 3 processor (1.5Ghz); expected for a Q1/Q2 2012 launch. This time around HTC has opted to equip their device with a Qualcomm 2.5GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor (APQ8064) . You heard correct this device will be touting Qualcomm’s brand new processor and may even be the first device to do so. The rest of the specs is as follows: Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 4.5-inch 720p HD display, 1GB of RAM, 8MP camera, 1080p HD video recording, 1.3MP front-facing camera and a 1,830mAh battery. The design seems sleek, with HTC’s signature unibody design measuring in at 109.8 x 60.9 x 9.8mm (4.32 x 2.4 x 0.39 inches)  and weighing 146 grams, it’s not the thinnest or lightest phone by any means. Nonetheless, any phone packing that much power must have a few shortcomings, battery life perhaps? This device will apparently be making its debut at next year’s Mobile World Conference on February in Barcelona you can be sure we will be keeping our eyes peeled for this one.
